A Newfound Planet about Three Times the Earth’s Mass

Finding an Earth-like planet around a normal-size star has just become nearer. Astronomers announced on June 2 that they have discovered a new planet about three times the earth’s mass and orbiting a star smaller than the sun.

The discovery implies that even the lowest mass stars near our sun can also host planets. The planet is approximately 3000 light years from Earth and is suggested to be made most likely of rock and ice. Does this new accomplishment signify that further explorations of such planetary systems can be extremely possible in the near future, making the search for alien life more attainable like purchasing an elegant business card holder?
